We welcome David Bard of The Marine Mammal Care Center at Fort MacArthur this Monday. All are welcome!
The Marine Mammal Care Center at Fort MacArthur is a hospital for
ill, injured and orphaned marine mammals. Their primary work is the
treatment and release of rescued California sea lions, northern elephant
seals, harbor seals and northern fur seals. The Care Center is involved in the education of students, school teachers and the general public in conjunction with the Center for Marine Studies. They also actively collaborate with other agencies, universities and
museums to learn and aid the treatment of the patients in our care.
The Marine Mammal Care Center was initially formed as the result of an agreement between Harcourt-Brace and the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD).
The Care Center began operating in October 1992.
